Description

Research demonstrates that diverse populations are more likely to encounter barriers to adherence, which subsequently leads to poorer health outcomes, and racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare.

This course equips key members of the healthcare team to promote adherence behaviors among these individuals. A research-based overview of adherence behaviors and cross-cultural barriers is followed by actionable strategies that include an adherence screening and counseling tool, the ESFT Model™, which learners apply to interactive case scenarios and exercises. Pre- and post-test data are available to report knowledge gains.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify how non-adherence impacts diverse populations, and contributes to racial and ethnic disparities in health and healthcare.
  • Explain the basic strategies to manage cross-cultural barriers to adherence.
  • Apply the ESFT Model to improve patient adherence.
  • Implement the concepts and skills of improving adherence for diverse populations with real patients in your day-to-day practice.
